This One Stays

We had a fantastic 4th of July. We headed to the park around 4:30, claimed a patch of grass for ourselves, and then relaxed for the rest of the afternoon. The kids had fun watching the boats go by and playing in the sprayer thing. They had fair food which was yummy. We had funnel cakes and cotton candy. Then at 7 the 2nd Marine Air Wing Band performed which was pretty cool. We didn't know that they were going to be there at first. It was a nice surprise and they are really good. They played until the fireworks started at 9:15. New Bern put on a really good show. There were a couple times that we thought it was the finale but it was just a lot of fireworks.

Leaving was an adventure. When we got there, it was really early and there weren't a lot of people there yet. When we left, there were droves of people trying to get out of the park all at once. It was crazy. A lot of the downtown streets were turned into one way street parking lots which is where we parked. It took us an hour to get home for what is normally a 10 minute drive, lol. It was all good though. We got to see this idiot minivan about get turned into a pancake by a huge truck about twice its size by cutting him off. Fun times.

Anyway, we're off to Greenville. Gotta do some birthday shopping for M and get dog food.
