Have Read or Not

I nabbed this from the Literary Feline. I have to say that I'm a little embarrassed by the number of books that I haven't read that are considered classics. I need to put down my chick lit and pick up something that actually has the potential to enrich my brain a bit.

The below listed books are the top 106 books most often tagged as being unread by LibraryThing users (as of October 3rd).

The instructions are simple: Bold what you have read, and italicize books you have started but couldn't finish. Add an asterisk* to those you have read more than once. Underline those on your TBR list (in my case this means I own them, but have yet to read them). The ones marked in red are books I am considering reading one day but do not have on hand.

  1. I've been watching this on a number of peoples blogs, and it really seems that very few people have read a lot of the books on this list. I wonder what possess all these people to buy these books specifically but never read them... hmm.

  2. I am glad you played along. :-) I didn't total up the number of books I am not interested in. It wouldn't be hard to do and so I might have to do that.

In response to Court, it's likely that many of the books on the list are "to be read" books that the readers just haven't gotten to yet.

  3. Court~~I have to agree with Literary Feline. These books are probably in a TBR pile for most of these people. I know that I don't buy books that I never intend on reading. Admittedly, I love buying books, but not just so that they can take up precious space on my bookshelves. I read everything that I buy.
