Hold on to Your Ears

Last night the oldest child had her first band concert. They sounded really good and I was such the proud parent. I had heard her class play in an informal concert some weeks ago and I could hear a definite improvement. What amazes me the most is that she wasn’t even the least bit nervous. Those are the times that I wonder if she’s really my daughter.

The Christmas Spirit is struggling to be found at my house this year. I don’t even have all my decorations up. I think this is the latest I’ve ever decorated for the holiday my entire life. Growing up, we always decorated on the Friday following Thanksgiving and I continued that tradition once I was married. Here it is, the 10th of December and I’m only about halfway done. We’re getting our Christmas tree this weekend, which is our usual time so that it will last until the end of the holiday season. I’m hoping that will bring about  a more festive mood.

I’m reading a new book that really helps with my mood. It’s titled Abundance:  A Novel of Marie Antoinette and it’s written by Sena Jeter Naslund. I love it! I was hooked after the very first chapter. I stayed up reading in bed until midnight last night, for which I paid the price this morning but it was totally worth it. Naslund has written several other books which I’m going to have to read when I’ve finished this one.

Happy Hump Day. ;)

Oh. And it’s 70 degrees in December. I’m loving that!

  2. It is crazy. 70's yesterday and today and then 55 tomorrow with freezing overnight lows. One thing you could say about VT was that the weather was consistent: Cold yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
