The Haze of Today

I have this total feeling of otherworldliness today. The kids had the day off of school for some obscure teacher work day thing and we spent the whole day in a haze-brain induced day of video game playing. Did that sentence even make sense? All I can see is Yoshi racing around all the historic Nintendo tracks from SNES to the new tracks of Wii. Occasionally, the Trisha and Mister that I created in the world of the Sims 2 will break in to mix things up a bit but it's mostly Mario Kart. And you know what? I don't even feel bad about it. Usually I limit our game playing so as not to fry precious brain cells and so that the Mister and I don't get any fatter and the kids don't get fat, but it RAINED all day today. Rain, rain, rain, rain. But I'm not complaining. It's hard to notice when you're going 100 mph around the Mario Circuit. Yeah, I took time out to clean the kitchen and to order the kids to pick up the hallway and the family room. Oh. And the Mister and I picked up some take out Chinese for dinner, heheh. We even corrupted one of the neighborhood kids who spent the entire day at our house going from the oldest child's room to play The Sims and then out to the family room to race on Mario Kart. Turns out we're the first ones on our street to get Mario Kart for the Wii. Heheh, suckers. I even squeezed some time in on my current read. It's been a big ol' day of NOTHING! Be jealous. How often can anyone say that?

Hump Day

This is definitely a hump day for me. I leave a week from today!! I'm both excited and nervous. I ordered a battery/case thing from iLuv today for my iPod. I paid extra for fast shipping so that I can have it on the plane to and from. Yay!

The recording part of our DVR crapped out on us again today. This is the fourth or fifth one that we've killed in just over a year. It's only the HD DVR's too. We have a regular DVR in our bedroom that we've had since we moved here and it's still going strong. The Mister is the one losing out on the most shows. He's going to miss this entire season of Prison Break, most of this season of Dexter, and some other odds and ends because we had stuff saved on there from back in November. I lost last night's Jericho, October Road (which I watched online) and Medium which I tried to watch online but the video was horribly choppy and I gave up. It also means that I'm going to have to actually watch shows as they are on tv which means less Wii, lol. I wish they'd make the HD DVR's a little hardier because they don't last long in our house.

Wiiiiii

We got our Wii yesterday. As I said in the comments on yesterday's post, I told my kids that their dad had ordered a snake and that's why the box said fragile. They both kept their distance while I opened the box, heheh. Wii played Wii Sports that came with it and then the Mister and I bought Wii Play because it came with a remote, some soccer game that the Mister wanted and is funny to watch, and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games which is fun too. I wanted to get My Sims but neither Target nor Walmart had it. What I really like about it is that it's backwards compatible with the Gamecube so all of our Gamecube games work with it too. All in all, it's a fun time and now I have something to hold over the kids' heads to get them to do their homework and chores, lol.

Made Me Laugh

I was at a place today buying a thing. In the checkout line, there were about six people ahead of me and the line wasn't moving all that fast. Suddenly, a 20-something girl ahead of me turns around to these two guys standing behind her and says to one of them, "I've really enjoyed standing here next to your man breasts", and then proceeds to pinch his nipple!! Everyone in line started cracking up it was so hilarious. I've never seen anything like that before in my life. My day can only go downhill from there, lol.

In other news, we're getting our Wii!! Thanks to my wonderful and saintly friend, Jennifer S., who managed to get me a Wii through her friend David, we will have a Wii in the next few days. The Mister knows but I'm not telling the kids until it gets here. Now they'll have something to occupy their time while I'm in San Diego, heheh.

Oh. And this is going to totally sound paranoid, but I think the USPS in in cahoots with Netflix. Remember way back when, when Netflix was taking heat for throttling back their high volume customers? Well, I think in order to combat the negative press and still keep their high volume customers from renting too many movies, they've struck a deal with the USPS. Why do I think this? Every time I put my Netflix movies in my mailbox to be mailed back, the postal carrier guy doesn't take them. He leaves them in the mailbox, puts our new mail on top of them, and then takes the movies the next day. Every time. It's to the point where I've stopped putting them in my mailbox and I take them to the post office and put them in the drop box there which is totally inconvenient to do. And it's not like you can say that maybe he didn't see them. They're in BRIGHT RED ENVELOPES!! Yup. I've uncovered a conspiracy.

I leave in 14 days!!
