The Value of Entertainment

Whatever happened to the idea of entertainment for entertainment's sake? Was such a thing ever really real? I'm pretty much sick and tired of the entertainment industry using music, television, and movies to push their political agendas, ideals, and opinions down my throat.

Just saying.

And maybe certain people should stop and think about something...When they are dogging another group of people for being uptight and judgmental, aren't they doing the exact same thing in return?? But because these certain people have fame and fortune, they get away with it when the other group just gets to be called old fashioned, greedy, and out of touch. Get a clue.

I’ve Got Stuff to Say!

I’m excited. I have stuff that I want to say on my blog. Woot! It’s a lot and I don’t feel like dividing it up into multiple posts so hang on to your panties and keep up.

First of all, have I mentioned yet that we’ve rented our beach house and have November 7th circled on the calendar? Yup. We’re headed back to the Outer Banks again this year so that the Mister can run in the OBX Marathon. This is the second year we’re going and the closest thing we have to a tradition, lol. No word on whether or not anyone is coming with us though.

Also!!! The Mister found out today that U2, (You know, the music group??) was in our town last night and ate at the same BBQ place that we love to eat at. How cool is that? They weren't in town for a concert or anything (::snort:: Like U2 would come to my town for a concert.)

And you know how people are advertising to buy gold jewelry all over the place? Well, I did that today and it was great. Not because I made a lot of money but because I got rid of some things that had bad memories attached to them or jewelry that was broken or bent but that I couldn’t make myself throw away. Instead, I sold it to a jewelry store nearby and got enough money to pay for a new watch battery and to have my favorite ring repaired. Two things that I had put off doing for about three years. It doesn’t seem like a big deal but it was for some reason.

Another thing…I made chili for dinner tonight. It’s a cold weather dish and it’s not cold here yet but I was totally craving it so I made it anyway. It was GOOOOD!

The oldest child’s punihsment for breaking the garbage disposal has been completed. As a result, I have a spotless kitchen from top to bottom. I made her clean out the cabinets and put everything back in an organized manner. I made her wipe down the outside of all the cabinets, clean out the fridge, clean out the microwave, and mop the floor. It took her two days. Plus she was grounded to her room when she wasn’t cleaning. She’s been an angel for the past few days, heheheh.

Both the Mister’s Twitter account and mine were hacked. He had to make an all new account (caseyj7760) and I just had to change my password. Makes me wonder if anything else was hacked of which we are unaware.

I LOVE my marketing class. I’m learning a lot and it’s just fun.

I cleaned out my bedroom closet yesterday and decided to reorganize it and my dressers. 60 hangers later and it’s complete. It’s much better and I found clothes that I forgot that I had. How nifty is that?

If you’ve ever thought of joining www.bagborroworsteal.com I would really appreciate it if you would use me for a referral. Just so you know, I love my membership. My newest rental is a Fendi bag and it’s FABULOUS!!

NaBloPoMo is right around the corner and I have no idea how I’ll do it this year. Should I even try?

Ok. It’s time for bed. I have other stuff but I’ll get to it another time.

Random Saturday Ravings

I'm taking a mini non-vaca this weekend. What in the world is that? It is where the Mister and I have turned off all of our phones and they aren't scheduled to be turned back on until Tuesday morning. Yay!! I couldn't be more excited. If you need to reach me, try calling the oldest child. I'm pretty much ignoring email and Twitter this weekend too. If you don't have the oldest child's phone number, sorry bout your luck.

I stole this meme from Literary Feline's blog. Read on!

Making Up

I just got done saying how I haven’t updated the way that I should be updating and here I am with two posts in one day. I’m in a reflective mood now.

You know the saying that if you have no regrets then you really haven’t lived your life? Or something to that effect. I think that I agree but I have to wonder…Is that just an excuse or an explanation for saying or doing something that you shouldn’t have or not doing or saying something that you should have? Do regrets come in any other form than actions or words?

15 years ago I was a sophomore in high school. I was 16. Thinking about being 16 makes me want to cry, lol. Anyway, I had this teacher who made our class (I believe it was Sociology but I can’t remember) write letters to ourselves to be delivered sometime after graduation. The purpose of this exercise was to see how our perceptions would change with time and life’s experiences. I recently found out that when Mr. Hoying tried sending me my letter, it was returned as undeliverable. Big surprise. How many times have I moved since graduation?? I can’t decide if I really want to read that letter or not. I have little memory of the things that I wrote but I wrote pages. It ended up being sort of a diary. How dumb is this letter going to make me feel? After being urged to do so, I e-mailed my former teacher and gave him my current mailing address. He responded this morning saying my letter will be here in a few days. Wow. The Mister says that I’m making too much of this, but I know myself and I know who I was 15 years ago and I’m pretty sure that my letter is going to make me feel like a complete idiot, lol. How would you feel about receiving your 15 year old thoughts in the mail?

Anyway, I know that a few people that I went to high school with read my blog and I’m sure they are in contact with others in our class as well. Mr. Hoying said that he has numerous letters that were returned to him. If you want yours or know how to get a hold of someone who would, let him know. His e-mail address can be found at Lehman Catholic’s website.

Jabber Jabber

I’m on the phone when I should be in bed, so I thought I’d blog too while I’m at it.

We had a lazy Sunday. The Mister and I ventured out long enough to do some necessary shopping but that was about it. The oldest child’s volleyball practice/game was cancelled. All in all, it’s been a pretty boring day.

Now, I’m contemplating the economy, how the word “family” is just a word, and how some “friends” aren’t actually friends. It’s weird. I’m in a weird mood.

That Wasn't All

I was irritated enough to leave posting today with two sentences, but I thought, what the hell and here I am again. I should have recognized my posting problem for what it was: a bad omen. I'm not having such a great morning. The Mister has been sending me funny video e-mail forwards to cheer me up. I'd post them, but they are...inappropriate, heheh. They're forwards from Marines. What do you expect? I'm also nursing my morning with a caramel frap from Starbucks. Too bad it's not Irish.

I posted a while back about getting what you pay for. I searched for the post so that I could reference it but couldn't find it. Anyway, we bought a set of salt and pepper grinders that were really nifty looking. We actually spent an embarrassing amount of money on them and you know what...they SUCK. This is an item that I guess you don't get what you pay for. We went out and bought the McCormick disposable salt and pepper grinders and they work great and just for a few bucks a piece. No, they're not the nice stainless steel set but they freaking work and that's what matters. I still believe that the saying applies to more things than it doesn't though.

I have a new favorite song of the moment. It's by Cory Lee and it's called The Naughty Song. It's such a fun song. I'm also still listening to Kate Nash quite a bit. I like Foundations, Mouthwash, Pumpkin Soup, Skeleton Song, Nicest Thing, and Merry Happy off of her Foundations CD. That's not a bad amount of songs to like off of one CD. Not including the remixes, that's half the songs. Normally, I only like one or two off of a whole CD.

You know that James Lipton questionnaire thing? One of the questions is what is a sound or noise that you hate. I have the perfect answer: The sound of a dog licking its butt. Holy cow! That's annoying.

I have no plan for the rest of the day. Homework, of course. I'd like to get some things done outside but it's chilly and overcast. Supposedly it's going to get into the 70's and clear up, but we haven't seen the sun in so long that I'll believe it when I see it. I think I'm done rambling about nothing now. Hopefully BTT next week will be something that doesn't annoy me and you'll be spared my rambling for at least one day. ;)

Stuff

I feel like rambling. I know. What makes this different than any other time that I post? Well, :P to you.

M's birthday went really well. She and her friend had a good time last night and she liked all of her presents. Today at the beach was kinda blah. There have been storms in the area so there was a yellow flag up today and it was definitely warranted. The surf was very rough. We only stayed about 2 1/2 hours.

On another note, C and are taking tentative steps to selling the house in VT. It's a long, boring, and complicated story that promises to have many plot twists but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the process won't be too painful. The ball, for the moment, is in our renter's court so all we can do now is sit and wait to see what she says.

Tomorrow is going to be full of the homework that I put off during the week. I suck.
