Oh! The Pain!

The cascade effect of the WGA strike began Monday with late night talk shows becoming the first casualties. This morning I found out that it has killed two of my favorite shows: Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory. The horror! Other shows that have been caught in the crossfire:

Back to You
Til Death
Rules of Engagement
Desperate Housewives
The New Adventures of the Old Christine

Carpoolers (I liked this one too)
And most likely after this week, Heroes

These are just the ones that I could find. It's not a definitive list. I need to hit the bookstore. I'm about 20-30 pages from the end of Wicked and the only other book in the house that I haven't read is the one that the hubby's in the middle of reading, lol. Oh! And Life of Pi. I guess this would be good time to get that one restarted.

And a funny aside: I just got an e-mail from the hubby at work. He's on duty today and tonight and he said that the guys from his shop have been prank calling him all morning. How funny. That's your tax dollars hard at work, lmao.

  1. Does Wicked get any better as you get into it? I tried starting it a while ago, but only got a chapter or two in before I put it down and moved on to something more interesting.

  2. Honestly, I'd have to say no. There are parts like Section V (5) at the end and I think it was section II, the school years, that go by pretty fast but overall, it's a really slow read. Still, I'd recommend toughing it out. The book was well written and it was fun to read a sort of "behind the scenes" story after having grown up watching the Wizard of Oz.

  3. I was just thinking that this might be the time to catch up on my DVD TV shows.

I enjoyed Wicked when I read it, but it wasn't what I expected. I think I expected something much lighter. Still, it was quite interesting. I'll never be able to see the Wicked Witch of the West the same again.

  4. LF~~That's how I felt about Wicked too. The WWotW became human in the book.
