What was the last book you bought?
Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe.
Name a book you have read MORE than once
All the Harry Potters and all the In Death books.
Has a book ever fundamentally changed the way you see life? If yes, what was it?
I’m shallow so I can’t think of one.
How do you choose a book? eg. by cover design and summary, recommendations or reviews
If there’s a new book by an author that I’ve loved or hated, I’ll either buy it or stay away from it respectively. I also go by recommendations of other bloggers.
Do you prefer Fiction or Non-Fiction?
Fiction.
What’s more important in a novel - beautiful writing or a gripping plot?
The plot. For me, a book isn’t worth reading if I don’t care about the story or the characters.
Most loved/memorable character (character/book)
Eve Dallas
Which book or books can be found on your nightstand at the moment?
Sadly, none.
What was the last book you’ve read, and when was it?
I read The Russian Concubine by Kate Furnivall Tuesday and I loved it. I’m in the middle of reading another book the title of which I can’t currently remember, lol.
Have you ever given up on a book half way in?
I gave up on Frankenstein and Dracula in high school but when I read them a couple years ago, I loved them. I just wasn’t ready for either book while I was in high school. Other books I’ve set aside with the intention of coming back to read them later. And I will.
Some classics should not be attempted in high school.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I didn't think of choosing books by author...
ReplyDeleteI prefer plot and characters to beautiful writing too.
Sal~~I totally agree. Those were two books that I thought sucked and was irritated that I had to read again for college. Now, I count them among my favorite novels.
ReplyDeleteJennifer~~The writing definitely has importance, but the plot and characters are what makes me want to keep turning pages.
I'm coming back around to my assigned high school texts... enjoy them so much more the second time around.
ReplyDeleteTrisha, I have The Russian Concubine. I'd almost forgotten about it. I really need to read that one!

Literarily
Heather~~I suppose it's maturity that allows us to better appreciate some books. I also think it's because most of the homework I had in high school I resented, lol
ReplyDeleteShanna~~You totally need to read that book. SO good! I read it in one day.
