Back to School

Today was the first day of school for my girls. Since they were both starting new schools, I had two very nervous kids on my hands this morning. Okay. I was nervous for them too, lol. I must’ve looked it because on the way out of the youngest child’s school one of the teachers stopped me and told me everything would be okay.

We have a bit of a scheduling snafu where the kids are concerned. Mornings aren’t going to be a big deal but afternoons are hairy. I have to pick the oldest child up at 3:00. The youngest child’s bus drops her off at 3:15. As long as the oldest leaves the school and is outside promptly at 3, we’ll be fine. But if she behaves like any other middle school girl, her sister is going to be stuck waiting for us at the bus stop. It won’t be a problem once they get used to the new neighborhood but until then, the youngest has no idea how to get to her house from the bus stop, lol.

So anyway, I just got home from painting at the new house. I only got the youngest’s room painted and it took me FOREVER! I had to tape the windows, doorways, and chair rail and then it was a lot of up and down off the ladder. The sad thing is that I only had to paint half the room since the bottom half is wallpaper. However, I LOVE the color. It’s such a nice, soothing pink. Very girly but then, so is she. She picked the color by herself and did a very nice job of it.

I took the dogs with me today for the first time. They seem to like the new house and yard. We had a funny while there too. They followed me upstairs to the office. When Bailey reached the top of the stairs and turned around, she saw herself in the mirrored closet doors. When she went to greet the “other” dog, she banged her head into the mirror. Hannah attempted to do the same thing but she just bumped her nose. I about died laughing.

I’m off for a shower before I have to run all over creation to pick my kids up from school.

  1. I hope the kids have a great day at their schools. Sounds like you are settling in to the new house! I need to paint at my house too but I can't seem to find any motivation.

  2. That is too funny about the dogs! Anya likes to play with her reflection. She hasn't yet learned that it's her she's looking at. :-)

I hope the kids have a good first day!
