What I’m Watching

It’s been a while since I’ve done a television post so I think now would be a great time with the regular season ending and the summer one starting in a less than two weeks.

First of all, I said a sad farewell to several shows this year. I watched ER from beginning to end. I thought the finale was fabulous. Prison Break is another show I stuck with to the end. This one was tough too. It stopped being fresh after the first season and became very repetitive. Still, I needed to know how it was going to end. Much in the same way that I’ll read a book to the finish no matter how boring it is. Battlestar Galactica ended too. :( Very sad about that. I loved it beginning to end. I have all the seasons except for the last on DVD which I will be buying as soon as it comes out. I’m planning a marathon, lol.

I have a ton of shows that I’m looking forward to watching next season.

  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • Private Practice (What a cliffhanger!!)
  • Chuck
  • Bones
  • The Big Bang Theory which is the funniest show since Friends and if you know me at all, you know that this is high praise.
  • Two and a Half Men
  • The Tudors

Summer season shows that I am really excited about are:

  • The Closer
  • Raising the Bar
  • Gene Simmons Family Jewels (heheh)
  • Psych

There are other shows that I watch that I’m not sure when they are due back on but I’m waiting on pins and needles.

  • Weeds
  • Dexter
  • Mad Men
  • Big Love
  • Flipping Out
  • Californication
  • The United States of Tara
  • My Boys (It hasn’t ended yet but I will be sad when it does and I’ll be looking forward to its next season.)

I hope that Medium does okay on CBS since NBC dropped them. Aside from some grizzly murder scenes and pictures, there really isn’t too much about this show that I would consider too risqué for my kids to watch. It doesn’t have bad language and very little sexual situations. Why can’t people get on board with shows that don’t have half dressed people in it?

There are a few other shows that I watch that are my “fillers” which means that I’ll watch them if I remember that they’re or I’ll catch them in reruns.

  • American Chopper
  • Deadliest Catch
  • Myth Busters
  • Ghost Hunters
  • Little People, Big World
  • J&K + 8 (You know what this one is, right? I used to be a big fan but due to recent events, it’s like watching a train wreck. I don’t know how much I’ll be watching of this season.)

If you have any shows that are not on my lists that you would like to recommend that I watch, DON”T!! I watch too much TV as it is, lol. It’s really no wonder why two DVR’s aren’t enough.

  1. I stopped watching ER years ago but I did catch the finale. It was a tear jerker.

I only saw the first season of Battlestar Galactica--and loved it. I'm not sure why we stopped watching it. I plan to buy the DVD set and watch it all the way through eventually.

I'm also a fan of Grey's Anatomy and Chuck (so glad it's coming back!). Shows you didn't mention that I'm hooked on are Lost and Dollhouse.

Hubby and I are watching season 3 or Closer right now. We're way behind. The only summer show I can say we're looking forward to watching when it airs is True Blood.

  2. You watch just about as much TV as I do. LOL!

I watched ER from the beginning too and the finale was a great one. I'm sad to see it go but I think it was it's time.

Prison Break was a fav of ours too but the third season was just too much. I'm glad it ended. Supposedly, there is a movie that will be released that will show what happened between the time they all were set free and when Michael dies. I'm also a big fan of Grey's and I'm totally addicted to LOST.

I love The Tudors, Big Love, Weeds, Mad Men, and Californication. With the exception of Mad Men, the rest I have to catch up with on DVD because we don't have Showtime. I'm late watching Mad Men but I watch the first season over Christmas and Season 2 comes out soon. We just starting watching True Blood.

Love Flipping Out. I hope there is another season this summer. My other favs are Project Runway and Top Chef. Project Runway is being moved to Lifetime though and now there is a new show on Bravo that is trying to replace it.

I know you didn't ask for recommendations but if you haven't seen Six Feet Under...best show ever! They ran them on Bravo a couple of episodes each week a few years ago and I'd store them on TiVo. I couldn't wait to get home and watch one. We were so addicted. Also, one of the BEST endings to a show ever.

  3. LF~~I started out watching BSG on DVD too. I ended up buying one season after the other and I got caught up before the last season started. I was addicted fast and sorry to see it end.

I was relieved about Chuck. It almost didn't make the cut.

Pam~~The amount of TV we watch is a bit sad, isn't it?? lol.

I was glad to see Prison Break end finally too. I have no idea if I'll see the DVD or not.

I've been tempted to watch Six Feet Under. I just might grab the first season on DVD and see how it goes, heheh. ;)
