Our trip to Greenville was marred by tragedy. On the way there, we came upon an accident. Traffic was backed up a little so we couldn't see exactly what had happened at first. We knew it was bad with all of the emergency crew that was there and there were temporary speed bumps in the road and stuff. Even with all that, it couldn't have prepared us for the horrific scene that slowly came into view. Some poor soul wrapped their car around a tree. From the way that it looked, the car must have been airborne when it hit the tree because it was part-way up the tree. What was left of the car was barely recognizable as a car at all. Make, model, and size were impossible to tell. All that you could see was that it was red. That was the worst car accident that I have ever seen in person. It was bad enough that I didn't even want the girls looking at it even though all you could see was wreckage. We were stunned. We rode most of the rest of the way to Greenville in silence. Even the girls, who are normally chatterboxes in the car, were quiet.
On the way back home, they had cleaned up the scene by then and you could see how the car had completely mangled a chain link fence and the tree is badly scarred. With uncanny timing, we had tuned in to 105.5 on the radio and the dj was talking about the accident. He had actually seen the whole thing happen in front of him. According to this guy, the red car passed him and then proceeded to drive erratically for a bit before losing control and hitting the tree. He said that he called 911 and then continued on his way. WTHOLYF is that?!?! You are a witness to a very bad accident, you don't stop to see if there's anything you can do for the victims, and you don't stop to give a report to the police??? Where is your humanity? Was he in such a hurry so that he could be the first person to report it over the radio?? GEEZ!! Is it any wonder that I hate people? People suck!
